Pep Bonet & La Vulgaridad

Running away from vulgarity is a goal that every designer wants to achieve in his/her work.

In the “PEP BONET & LA VULGARIDAD” exhibition the designer takes advantage to show his designs contrasting them with the vulgarity of many objects that are not given much importance to form part of our everyday environment. Typically, we would not have a critical attitude of them and neither would they give us any particular satisfaction.

The exhibition aims to display all of them as in a museum hall, classified, isolated from each other so that the viewer can see them in an unusual situation, decontextualized from its normal place and use in reality. Some objects produce laughter or disgust but even Pep Bonet recognizes that he is beginning to love them, because they help him recognize vulgarity, which is the most important thing if we do not want to see ourselves involved in it and degraded.

From 4 June – 27 June 1992.
