First public tasting in Barcelona

Step-by-step tasting of the sensory elements of Sobrasada de Mallorca.

Tasting with the five senses.

Exhibition.

Tuesday, May 4 at 13:00, at La Sala Vinçon

The Regulatory Council of the Specific Denomination of Sobrasada de Mallorca presents the first public tasting of Sobrasada outside the island. The tasting will give the attending media the guidelines to learn to distinguish in a professional way the two types of sobrasada from Mallorca: the one made with white pork, and the one made with black pork, especially recognized in our community. Joan Mora, director of “tasting” of the Regulatory Council, will inform about the scientific aspects of the quality controls.

Afterwards there will be a tasting to continue discovering, step by step, the sensory aspects of Sobrasada de Mallorca. We will start with a classic: Sobrasada de Mallorca with honey. We will taste successively: spinach risotto, fried vegetables, Catalan beans, fish reels and seafood snail, naturally all elaborated with Sobrasada de Mallorca and baked malvasia. The tasting will be prepared by the gastronomic specialist Antoni Piña.

The Sobrasada de Mallorca exhibition and tasting will be held at La Sala Vinçon in Barcelona, where attendees can enjoy a spectacular exhibition that brings together 30 works of three Mallorcan photographers who have made Sobrasada de Mallorca an artistic motif, a game of sensations, an element of experimentation. Xisco Giménez, Vicenç Negre and Bárbara Vidal present photographs that are the most current expression of a millenary product, the Sobrasada de Mallorca. The origins, the elaboration process and the infinite possibilities of this product are reflected in a new, refreshing and alternative way that takes full advantage of the characteristics of three very different techniques: analog, digital and Polaroid photography.

The President of the Consell Regulador de la Denominación Específica de la Sobrasada de Mallorca, Mateu Castelló, invites you to participate in an event and in a space where you can taste with your eyes, and the five senses, the Sobrasada de Mallorca.
