Rare et Magnifique

Adrianna Wallis

12/04/2012. (Sala 284)

Obra & performance d’Adrianna Wallis.

During three weeks, Adrianna Wallis will be transforming a series of objects into ingots. The objects have been found on the internet, through the search criteria “Rare et Magnifique”. The stories and subjective value of this unique raw material will be ground into a fine powder and cast into ingots.

At La Sala Vincon, the public is invited to come and witness the metamorphosis of those objects into a uniform essence. Both the “rare” and “magnificent” attributes are not intrinsic characteristics of any object; they only exist in the mind, in a given context. They are very personal and relate to each individual in their own ways.

The transformation of objects into powder erases their shape, allowing a standardization and the extraction of the “Rare et Magnifique” essence that all the objects in this unique collection contain. From a distance, the ingot looks uniform and sandy, grey–brown in color. As one gets closer, small pink particles from a Pink Panther lamp can be distinguished; so can golden flakes originated from a Napoleon style liquor carafe; or crumbs of vinyl that once were living music notes from a Jacques Brel album.

The artist, born in France in 1981, has made exhibitions in: FAD 2011, Casa Elizalde 2011

Awards: Raima 2008, Enjoia’t FAD 2011
