Transgresor

Lluís Vilà

17/05/90. (Sala 119)

We have recently been watching how some people transgress the strictly artistic field to enter other fields by creating from artistic elements, “contemplative” objects. This is the case of painter, sculptor and designer Lluís Vilà.

He held his first exhibition in La Gábia Gallery in Girona in 1971. Toward 1979, he continued his career by using edible elements as sculptural material in different jobs and installations in coming trends like “Arte comestible” and “Arte pobre”, as in his works called “Sabates Comestibles”, “Carn” or “Entre Pa Enlluït” at Fundación Miró, among others.

From 1986, he uses steel plates in his sculptures. And now this same material and the same language have transgressed into the designs of furniture he makes for Colur, the producers.

His latest works are displayed in La Sala Vinçon together with his recent sculptural furniture designs or, as he calls them, his “contemplative” design proposals.
