I like to think that “Design”, although “Industrial”, grows and develops outside the industry. In fact design in Italy is considered as much more than a simple service to industry: it is a cultural, artistic and classical discipline even if its main purpose is still to give quality to industrial products.

Industry, whose purpose is obviously profit, tests only what is sustainable for the market or for the impact of its image. The logic of investment is flawless.

Unfortunately many mistakes are made during these tests so architects and designers must create and organize themselves in areas where they are allowed to make mistakes freely.

I would like to give products more feeling and humanity leaving aside the indifference of mass production standardization. I would like to have products that do not lose their value through the various processes of communication, distribution, sale, use and abandonment. Perhaps I would like above all to come to live my profession not so much as a “professional” but more as a “craftsman”.

The concept of “creating and producing” at the same time has always seemed to me an ideal, and I realize it today with the help of Italian craftsmen, transforming my studio into a sort of Renaissance artist’s workshop.

In this way I feel closer to the real industry because I have finally managed to make its problems my own.
