Maria Espeus was born in Boras (Sweden). She began her photographic career in Gothenburg, where she specialized in fashion and advertising. She later went to Paris and in the late 70’s came to Barcelona, where she now lives.

Her early work in Barcelona included graphic reportages and character portraits. In 1983, she held an exhibition called “Hola Barcelona” at the Instituto de Estudios norteamericanos with a collection of 180 portraits of life in Barcelona. Specializing in portraiture and fashion, she publishes in various magazines and newspapers.

This time Maria Espeus exhibits a series of reports, mostly for La Vanguardia Mujer (fashion supplement) made in the last two years, alternating outdoor work and work carried out in her own studio. These reports are thematically linked by the seasons in the year. A complete portrait exhibition, which Maria Espeus likes to describe as “a classic exhibition of photography”.

A Swedish newspaper has recently defined her as “one of the best photographers in Spain”.
