Dos mil uno, el principio y el fin en la fiesta de San Martin

La Hermandad Pictórica Aragonesa

31/01/77. (Sala 060)

From 31 January – 23 February 1977

The brothers Ángel and Vicente Pascual Rodrigo make up “la hermandad pictórica aragonesa”. They pioneered what they called “assemblies” and would later be called “installations.”

A Parcheesi created by the brothers announces the exhibition on the poster and on the postcard.

On this occasion, fabrics, drawings and graphic work are presented with a «montage» in the form of a labyrinth through which the visitor wanders. The walls installed for the occasion are slatted structures with fabrics; paintings hang on them. The labyrinth is made up of seven zones, each dedicated to a day of the week and the corresponding star. In the center is the area dedicated to Jupiter and on Thursday, there is a huge “trumpe l’oeil” of a staircase that seems to rise to infinity and is flanked by two large columns that support a pediment. Music from the thirteenth century plays continuously in the room.

The theme contains esoteric, ecological and poetic connotations, with eventual touches of socio-political criticism, sometimes ironic.
