The story behind Barbie, a pop culture icon.

La Sala Vinçon is exhibiting “Barbie loves Vinçon”, an exhibition that celebrates Barbie’s 50th anniversary and that looks back at her past since her birth as an adolescent mannequin until becoming a fashion and culture icon.

With special relevance in the fashion world, literature, cinema and the arts in general, Barbie is a real social phenomenon, not only at an international level but also in Spain which is where she has been present for 30 years.

Barbie has her own universe and in this exhibition you will be able to enter this world initially inspired by fashion cut-out toys and which evolves over time later becoming one of the most iconic brands of the 20th century. This extraordinary story, her famous face and singular style that has made her the most popular doll in the world, will be reflected in fun pieces, some of which have never been seen before in Spain.

The showcase includes a selection of the most iconic and attractive doll collections from the last 5 decades, art works inspired by Barbie, a part from publicity from different times and very special illustrations.

In parallel with this exhibition there will be a selection of Barbie products for adults and collectors. Amoung the products available you will find a limited edition book commemorating the 50th Anniversary edited by the prestigious Assouline publishers. The book includes photographs of unique barbies created by different artists from around the world, a selection of Barbie collection dolls and other products inspired by the brand.
