A primera vista

Santa & Cole

14/01/87. (Sala 084)

Public presentation of a new product design editor.

From 14 January – 7 February 1987.

At first glance, the first impression. Direction towards the retina. Strolling around the world we see and discriminate. Head full of filters, or do eyes now have filters? Morality and taste, history, the colours we see them with. What is the first glance? An impulse of choice: this and not that. Every object is born to be chosen. From anonymity to a name.

Enter the world of language, culture and merchandise. It is viewed through different eyes. Is it true that things end up being what they appear to be?

Those who form part of the Santa & Cole team are all under 35 years. They come from different backgrounds, with similar prognosis. We have set out to edit what we like, to bring fourth to the public works that are usually unrelated.

Man in his world of objects and signs. The difficult distinction between what is necessary and what is free. Function, form, art, design, the rare sense of well being and líving well: the dialogue between ethics and aesthetics and imperfect harmony.

Barcelona is an inevitable point of reference. The Mediterranean, its labyrinths. The sensuality of livinig in this undiscovered city really is invaluable. We live in a time when everything seems possible.

Will we see it?
