Persianas Barcelona

From April 10 to April 22, 2014.

As a result of the proposal “De dins a fora” awarded by the competition RACONS PÚBLICS 2009, with which the Fad invited to devise small interventions to improve some of the forgotten spaces of the city, Persiana Barcelona arises today. The idea was simple: to replace the unfortunate plastic of the balconies of the streets Malnom and Picalquers del Raval, for traditional rope blinds that, at the same time, also protect from water.

The comfort and ventilation of the houses would be recovered, and with them, the appearance of the facades.

From a simple idea for a specific place and problem, a product was born that, as a final objective, aims to solve an urban problem that extends beyond the Raval area of Barcelona. Taking care of the details, the materials, recovering the colors of the city and, in short, improving the quality of an element that has been protecting the openings of the facades of our country for more than a century, are the arguments with which we present ourselves.

Persiana Barcelona is committed to craftsmanship and the value of handmade work, to rethink the rope blind as a sustainable product that is attractive, current and modern.

About the blinds.

Visual protection: The Barcelona blind in vertical position preserves privacy. While in extended position, it allows visuals to the outside.

Light opacity: The Persiana Barcelona in vertical position avoids the penetration of light from the outside, coming from solar radiation or street lighting.

Protection against water: The Barcelona blind protects against water, whether from rain or from the clothes hanging from the neighbor above. The shape of its slats allows them to overlap, as if they were a tiled roof. This protects the space between slats from water without impeding the passage of air. Sustainable materials: The Barcelona blind is a traditional and sustainable product, using local materials. They are made with Soria pine wood, certified with PEFC and CE seals, from sustainably managed forests.

Resistance and durability: The Barcelona shutter is finished with water-repellent paint, which prevents water from penetrating the wood. A quality paint applied in several layers improves its texture and durability.

Rope: The Barcelona blind is wound with nautical rope. This retains the color and texture of traditional hemp rope, but gains in tenacity and durability.

Color chart: The new color chart of the Barcelona blind is inspired by the chromaticism of the city. The 12 colors of the card come from the carpentry of unique buildings and the colors of the wood of the country.

Being an outdoor product, the Barcelona blinds are displayed on the second floor terrace, on a scaffolding tube structure.
