It was in 1978, at the Sala Vin\u00e7on, that Maria Cardoner saw Javier Mariscal\u2019s picture \u201cEnsaladilla\u201d, which would become the inspiration for their first joint creation. From that time on she worked closely with a variety of avant garde artists.<\/p>\n

Fernando Amat, the owner of the shop, became her confidant and sold the fabrics and household accessories that she designed to the general public. Maria Cardoner always looked out for carefree, postmodern designs, with dynamic, striking images in bright colours, basic and intense shades.<\/p>\n

Among the most successful models were her Palmereta (now a classic in its own right), Javier Mariscal\u2019s Autopista, Futim\u00e9, Gatos, Muchos peces, Llea, William Morris; Pekin, Zoo, Anim\u00e0lia (by S\u00edlvia Gubern), Rigoletto (by Perico Pastor), Gaud\u00ed (Juma), and many more.<\/p>\n

When Marieta S.A closed down at the end of the year 2000, it donated more than 240 fabrics (printed fabrics, jacquards, and rugs) and 258 original designs to the Textile Museum and Documentation Centre.<\/p>\n

Maria Cardoner\u2019s firm revolutionized textile design for the home between the mid-seventies and the mid-nineties. The complete collection of Marieta S.A. is now put on display for the first time.<\/p>\n

The items on show are a faithful representation of her creative spirit: fabrics, prints, rugs, accessories, and original designs by artists such as Javier Mariscal, Perico Pastor, S\u00edlvia Gubern, Albert R\u00e0fols-Casamada, Maria Girona, Juma, Philip Stanton, and Xano Armenter.<\/p>\n

This exhibition is organized by the Museu T\u00e8xtil of Terrassa.<\/p>\n
