How does the lack of resources affect the form and use of space? Are they conditioned by poverty? What impact does it have on the daily lives of people living in collective and social integration?<\/p>\n

Access to housing is a fundamental right, but unfortunately a large proportion of the world\u2019s population doesn\u2019t have the possibility to exercise this right.<\/p>\n

In India, 166 million people are Dalits. This group continues to suffer great discrimination and is still deprived of some of the most basic human rights, such as education, health and housing.<\/p>\n

The Vicente Ferrer Foundation (FVF) works to support those who are most vulnerable in not having access to land and adequate housing. Women, people with disabilities and those who have lost their home due to natural disasters are the main beneficiaries of the housing program led by FVF.<\/p>\n

The communities and families are the real players who take part in the whole construction process which begins from identifying the needs to building a house, always backed up by the FVF and their technical and financial support. All the homes that are built are in keeping with local traditions and its environment and use new materials that are respectful to the environment.<\/p>\n

Access to housing doesn\u2019t only involve improvements to peoples living conditions, but also breaks the cycle of poverty and social exclusion. Thanks to FVF\u2019s housing program, 50,000 families now have a decent life.<\/p>\n

The Vicente Ferrer Foundation (FVF) is an NGO committed to the transformation of one of the poorest areas of India, the state of Andhra Pradesh. It therefore carries out a comprehensive development program that includes projects in education, housing, health, ecology and schemes for women and persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n

Ricard Morat\u00f3 is an architect and has worked for 4 years as head architect for the FVF\u2019s office in Anantapur. During this period he has designed and built hospital, school and residential buildings as well as other projects for the Foundation.<\/p>\n
